Swimming, surfing, hiking, cycling, bird watching, boating, sunbathing, lazing and beaver spotting; it's all possible in the beautiful area around the Zuidlaardermeer, 100 meters from Lakehouse Holland. There is a lot to do and experience in and around the lake. The lake is over 600 acres. large and is located by boat 100 meters from the Lakehouse. You could even swim to it from the Lakehouse jetty. The lovely, fine beach next to the lake is within walking/biking distance. The area around the lake is a very important bird area and since 2008 also the habitat of the beaver.
Before the summer season starts there is a big party with live music that you really shouldn't miss: Swingin Zuidlaardermeer. There will be tour boats you can hop on and take you to the music! When the sun is high in the sky, the beautiful sandy beach of the Zuidlaardermeer is the place to be. There are playgrounds for the youngest among us and there is a swimming bay and a beach pavilion right on the beach. After a day of swimming, fishing, boating, sailing or windsurfing, watch the sun set in the lake or on the waterfront patio at the Lakehouse. In the wine cabinet, of course, you will already have a delicious bottle ready to go!
Boating enthusiasts can also indulge! Upon request, you can use the Lakehouse's sloop. The Zuidlaardermeer is one of the best navigable lakes in the Northern Netherlands and within 100 meters of sailing you are there! Would you like to reserve the sloop with your stay? An ideal vantage point for biking, hiking, or boating because the Zuidlaardermeer is located on the border of Groningen and Drenthe. Groningen is known for its beautiful, expansive landscape and polders and Drenthe, of course, for its forests, moors and fens. As a nature lover, you should also really visit the beautiful meadow bird areas (the Oeverpolder, the Oostpolder and the Onnerpolder) and the flood marsh (Leinwijk). Lakehouse Holland is then the perfect home base.
And then the "round of Zuidlaardermeer"; you must have cycled it! You can use the bicycle ferry (self-service) of the Groninger Landschap to cross the Drentse Diep. You can also then visit mill museum "the Keeper," the Fairy Tale Court or look around one of the surrounding esdorpen or peat-colonial villages.
